The Art Department is a well resourced working environment and is housed in a new block within the main building. There are three dedicated rooms and a IT pod with internet access. All rooms are equipped for multi media tasks and the department has a kiln and facilities for digital photography and image manipulation
Students from various year groups go on visits to galleries in London and local sites and exhibitions where appropriate.
Curriculum Delivery
At Key Stage 3 all students follow the National Curriculum. In Year 7 students study Still Life, Packaging and Pop Art and Faces.
In Year 8 students study Natural Forms, A project for the Shaftesbury Shop Windows and Perspective.
In Year 9 students study Knots, folds and fastenings, Fantastic Landscapes and Masks
A teacher assessed National Curriculum level is then determined.
At Key Stage 4 students can either follow a single award GCSE in Art and Design Fine Art or a double award Applied qualification both of which are with AQA.
Recent exam results are 86.5% A*- C in Single award Art and design
100% A*-C in Applied Art
At Key Stage 5 the students follow AQA Syllabus in Art and Design
At A2 the pass rate A-E was 100%.
