Charging and Remission Policy
Education for all registered students during school hours is free of charge. Education provided outside school hours which is required by the syllabus, or provided to fulfil statutory duties, is available at no compulsory extra charge. Voluntary contributions may be sought for this, and for other activities both compulsory and optional.
Charges are made for the following:
- board and lodging on residential visits;
- instrumental tuition;
- optional extra-curricular activities;
- certain exceptional examination costs (including when a student fails to attend an examination for which he/she has been entered);
- materials or ingredients where a student or parent has indicated in advance a desire to own the finished product;
- costs towards restitution or replacement in the event of a student maliciously causing damage.
Parents who are in receipt of income support, working tax credit, or an income-based job-seeker’s allowance will be advised of the right of remission from the costs of board and lodging on residential educational visits. The Governing Body may offer support, when requested, in cases of exceptional hardship, which fall outside statutory remission.
