I.C.T.
The Team
The team comprises of three specialist teachers, a Network Manager and two technicians:
Mrs S Hunter - Head of ICT
Mr P Bond - Teacher of ICT
Miss M Al-Jassar - Teacher of ICT
Mr A Dolman - Network Manager
Mr A Barlow - ICT Technician
Curriculum
At Key Stage 3 students follow a scheme of work based on that published by QCA. The department has full resources both paper based and online to support this course. Some changes have been made where appropriate and the year 9 course gears away from the strategy and focuses on preparing the students for ‘project based’ work at GCSE and DIDA.
At KS4 all students study core ICT. They can also opt to do the DIDA course. The students who just study the core ICT will all be entered for GCSE Short Course with Edexcel. The DIDA course is also Edexcel examining board as well.
In Year 12 and 13 students can continue studying ICT. They have two options depending on their GCSE Grades. We offer a level two course for those at GCSE Grade D’s and below and GCE Applied for those who wish to pursue ICT at Level 3 standard.
ICT Clubs are run throughout the week and after school. The ICT rooms are regularly used by other staff and students for work.
Accommodation
The ICT department is well resourced, with four fully equipped discreet ICT Teaching areas. Each of these classrooms contains reliable and sound computers, printers and electronic whiteboards or plasma screens. Each room has full access to the internet. In addition, there are PODS of computers around the school in areas such as Careers, The Resource Centre, Science, Technology and Art.
