Sports College - Key Stage 5

Key Stage 5At Key Stage 5 students can opt to take examination based studies in GCE (AQA) Sport and PE and vocational based GCE (AQA) Leisure Studies. Both courses are offered at AS Level for Year 12 with students progressing to the A2 aspect in Year 13.

The focus of the GCE Course is split over six units that make up the full A2. Three units per year are delivered to students focusing on developing students’ knowledge of advanced sport and optimizing sports performance.

The GCE Leisure Studies course is a vocationally based course which offers learners an insight into the Leisure Industry through a similar unit set up to the GCE Sport course.

In addition to the examination based subjects, sixth form students are involved in leadership courses that include; Community Volunteers, FA Football Level 1 Coach and Rock Climbing Supervisors. The department intends to increase the range of leadership courses on offer to students for next academic year. Additional Studies is directed PE.
