Sports College - Key Stage 3
Throughout Key Stage 3, pupils will participate in a variety of activities designed to suit every student’s individual need. During the Key Stage, students will participate in 2 hours of High Quality Physical Education every week. This will be supplemented by Active Lunchtimes and Extra-Curricular clubs. Activities on offer during Key Stage 3 include; Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Rock-climbing, Cricket, Dance, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, Orienteering, Caving, Health and Fitness, Rounders, Rugby, Tennis, Trampolining and Volleyball.
During the initial part of the Key Stage, students will learn new skills and will undertake new activities. They will begin to understand what makes an effective performance and how to apply these principles to their own and others work. As the Key Stage develops they will learn to take the initiative and make decisions on how to improve performance. During the latter part of the key stage opportunities for independent learning will occur more frequently in the lead up to the Key Stage transition.
Years 7, 8 & 9 within the Key Stage are designed to promote the whole-school GISA principles with specific themes within each year;

Throughout the Key Stage, assessment will be continuous allowing students to improve performance and attain their goals. Throughout the programme of study, students will be assessed through the following key strands, which will form the focus on high quality delivery and Assessment for Learning
- acquiring and developing skills
- selecting and applying skills, tactics and compositional ideas
- evaluating and improving performance
- knowledge and understanding of fitness and health
