Welcome to the website for Shaftesbury School, a thriving 11-18 voluntary controlled school for approximately 1000 students.

Since relaunching in 2003, our school has undergone major refurbishment, providing excellent facilities in a bright and airy environment Our vertical tutoring system, placing each student in one of four houses, has fostered good relationships between students of different ages, created a real “family” and community atmosphere, not to mention a bit of healthy competition!

Our Boarding community of some 80 international students has helped us to develop global perspectives, as has our involvement in the British Council’s Comenius Project. This scheme has linked us with five schools across Europe and has earned us International School status and two Innovation Awards.

We have held Sports College status since 1999, and operate a Sixth Form partnership with Sturminster Newton High School. Our partnership with Yeovil College’s Vocational Skills Centre in Shaftesbury offers a range of opportunities to better meet the needs and aspirations of all our students. Opportunities exist for students to pursue leadership courses and our Sports Leaders work with students from a local special school.
