Dorset Parent Carer Council
The Dorset Parent-Carer Council has been set up this year with the aid of Government Funding under Aiming High for Disabled Children and its purpose is to be a voice to inform all agencies and services about the needs of disabled children and their families in Dorset.
We aim to work with all agencies and services that offer help, advice and benefits to our children and ourselves, including our schools, police, local councils, Dorset Primary Care Trust and any other local facilities, organisations and enterprises.
Parents and Carers are invited to join us and add their voice to enable us to make a difference for disabled children and youngsters and their families in Dorset.
Our new website is http://dorsetpcc.googlepages.com/
We are having a series of official launch events in November and are inviting parents and carers to join us for a cup of tea/coffee, cake and chat so that they can find out about us. Relevant professionals from other organisations will have stands at these events.
- Friday, 6th November 10.30 am to 12.30 pm at Wyvern School, Dorchester Road, Weymouth
- Monday, 9th November 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm at Yewstock School, Honeymead Lane, Sturminster Newton
- Tuesday, 10th November 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm at Allenbourn School, East Borough, Wimborne
- Saturday, 21st November 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm at Bridport Youth and Community Centre, Gundry Lane
PARENTLINE PLUS
Parentline Plus is a national charity that works for, and with, parents.
We know that parents want to do the best they can for their children, but sometimes family life can be challenging and difficult. There is after all, no one right way to parent.
In the UK there are over 24 million people who parent – it’s not just mums and dads who do it. Families come in all shapes and sizes. Grandparents, stepparents, brothers, sisters, other relatives, friends and foster carers are all involved in raising happy, healthy children.
Parentline Plus works to offer help and support through an innovative range of free, flexible, responsive services - shaped by parents for parents.
