Student Progress
We strive to keep both students and their parents fully up to date with their progress.
Marking Policy
A consistent marking policy is applied throughout the school, to help students improve their learning. Parents and learners can expect work to be annotated with a comment on how successful a piece of work has been and a target focused on how it could be improved. These comments might be written by the teacher, the student themselves or another student.
Interim Reports and Full Reports
Regular Interim Reports are sent to parents and reflect progress in every subject. More detailed Full Reports are sent annually.
Consultation Evenings
These are an opportunity for parents and students to discuss progress, difficulties and successes with subject teachers. They take place at least annually for all students and are linked to important points like practice examinations. Please attend your Consultation Evening - this clearly shows the students how home and school should work together to provide the best education possible.
Homework and the Student Planner
A homework timetable is published at the start of every school year, and is distributed to students with their Planner. We ask parents to see that homework is done conscientiously, free from distraction and in the best possible conditions. Parents’ interest and support in all aspects of schoolwork is extremely important for each student.
All homework set is recorded in the student’s own Planner, which is also used as an easy form of communication between teachers and parents regarding any problems with homework. We ask all parents to check and sign their child’s Planner every week.
School Calendar
The school calendar, which includes details of exams, reports and consultation evenings is published in each issue of Aspire, and updated regularly on the website. We will also write to you individually before every major event in your child’s school career.
